After adoring our Spinoni for many years, and loving their temperaments, we one day met a couple walking 2 strangely familiar looking dogs on a Norfolk beach. They looked like Spinoni, but without the hair ! These beautifully regal looking dogs were called Bracco Italiano ! WOW, even the name conjured up dogs only befitting a king or queen, and oh boy has Jacob lived up to his regal tendencies and expectations !

Jacob is the kind of dog that only comes along once in a lifetime, a one off, and a huge joker. Friendly (in a helicopter wag kind of way) to everyone he meets canine and human.

It has to be said here though that owning a 'Jacob' comes with some ground rules, which should always be honored...only those willing to offer a 13 tog duvet for sleeping (and appropriate tog weight for summer evenings), a freshly running tap for drinking (none of those sloshy, slobbery bowls here if you please) enough country miles for off lead running (where it's best to pack a overnight bag just in case of doggly diversions) and a garden which offers enough dry space for weeing and poohing without getting your feet wet. If that all bodes well, this could well be the breed of dog for you.

Jacob is quite honestly the most intelligent dog we have ever owned. We swear that that dog knows about life more than we do. He knows when it's best to stay under the duvet on a cold and wet morning (laying on back compulsory) or when he's ready to eat that rubbish you dared to grace his bowl with - what's that you say it's called ? 'dog food' - made for dogs - oh how common ! pleease !

Most of all Jacob, apart from running marathons, loves to watch tv, okay, though not quite to the sofa loafer standard of Tiva, he is a definite square eyes. Favourite programmes being Dog Borstal, River Cottage (all those chickens make excellent prey, but just where do they go when they go behind the telly?!) Wild at Heart - bigger, wilder animals here, but still worth the chase i'm sure. Basically any programme with chickens, ducks, birds of prey, dogs or cats of any type are fair game to him. One day we are sure that he will eat his way into the tv in order to get to 'where they go' !

Jacob was born on 8th November 2005 and has some very regal bloodlines, he is of course (goes without saying!) bred mostly from posh Italian gentry that surely currently reside in huge casa's or château's in the Tuscan hills -

Jacob is sure they certainly don't put up with the inadequacies of the English and wonders often if his aristocratic relations actually have blue blood - his is sadly not blue, as when he cut his paw the other day it was definitely red - damn it!

We're reliably informed some family members, or so I am led to believe, live in Irish and Dorset chateaus, but Jacob is still waiting on actual sightings to prove this being the gospel truth !

Need I say more...... !
